Les Mess: Organizing Card Game

lesmess1 As parents, I think we’re always looking for better, maybe even fun, ways to get our kids to clean.

I don’t know about you, but my kids seem to be under the impression I’m their personal maid. They are sorely mistaken considering I leave their junk where they left it. Hello, I’m not picking up after them!

Along comes Les Mess created by professional organizer Leslie Jacobs! I NEED my boys to help me out because I don’t want to can’t do it all. Here’s how Les Mess works:

Les Mess Shuffle the cards

Pick One

Do It

If you finish in the allowed time, give your child a present using the gift ideas or one of your choosing.

There are a lot of reasons for liking this Card Game. First of all, the kids are given a specific amount of time to clean. So, it seems like a task that’s manageable and won’t last foreeeever! There are even a couple cards that give the kids a day off and make the parents clean their stuff!

IMG_2980 Second, the jobs are easy ones for them to understand. To help them cut back on clutter, they’re encouraged to go through things and get rid of stuff they haven’t played with or worn.

Third, Les Mess is well rounded. The kids get a day off when their parents have to clean the kids room. One of the cards has the kids reading for 15 minutes. And then there are the cards that give the family a free day.

IMG_2345IMG_2347Both boys were really interested in organizing with these cards. Our first one was to put all their books in their proper place. My boys ended up organizing their bookshelves! Rock on!!

Les Mess is a total keeper! I know that those wheels are turning in your head as to how to get your hands on these cards! Here’s where you can find them and their creator:

Win a CEIVA Pro 80 Digital Photo Frame!

CEIVAlogotaglineDo you ever wish you could exchange photos more easily with family and friends who live far away? That’s definitely our situation.

We live in Minnesota while my entire family lives in Virginia. We don’t get to see them very often. So when I had the opportunity to review the CEIVAshare Digital Photo Frame™ I knew this would be fantastic for our family!

Here are some facts about the CEIVAshare Digital Photo Frame™:

  • Daily automatic display of 40 new photos from friends and family with every PicturePlan update - you don't have to do a thing.

  • Uses built-in memory card reader to see all your photos from a camera memory card.

  • Send photos from Facebook, Picasa, iPhone, iPhoto, email, or camera phone with CEIVA Sender™ and CEIVAmobile™ plugins and software.

  • PicturePlan® photo delivery service required - frame comes bundled with one year

  • Connects through ordinary phone line; you don't even need a computer to receive photos from friends and family. (Broadband and Wi-Fi adapters also available.)

  • Comes with free invitations for guests to send photos from anywhere in the world.

  • Includes unlimited photo storage and customization on www.ceiva.com, including channel selections (news, weather, calendar, sports & more), photo editing applications and greeting cards.

  • Enhances photos with CEIVA True-to-Photo™ image and color technology for optimal photo display quality - no cropping, squishing or stretching.

  • Displays photos brilliantly with high-resolution 8-inch active matrix digital LCD screen, viewable from virtually every angle.

  • Sports traditional easel-back picture frame design.

  • Uses simple six-button remote and on-screen menu to control display modes, rotation and deletion, slideshow transition and timing, screen on and off times and more.

My dad was sent a frame and I received one. After about 2 hours of trying to figure it out, I had to call my dad and see if he could help me. He said it took him an hour to get his working, but at least it was working.

IMG_2908 Because I got ours just before Memorial Day Weekend, I had to wait until Tuesday to talk to someone at CEIVA. Man was I bummed! When I got hold of their customer service, they were super helpful! That I know if, they didn’t know I was a reviewer because I didn’t tell them. I figured, what better way to test out their customer service than to have a valid issue?

    IMG_2909

    Here the photos are transitioning.

They got my frame working in about 5 minutes. It wasn’t the frame that was having the issue, it was my computer! Grrr, ancient computers can be real stinkers.

My dad, oh my dad. He refused to believe that I was able to put photos on his photo frame. He believed it was only for him to load his photos to. We went round & round. I was like, “Hello, I’m the reviewer!” Finally I said, “Fine, I’ll show you!” LOL Ah, some things never change.

IMG_2914 Here I can use the remote control (which hides out behind the frame) to sort thru the photos.

It was all still new to me so I only sent him one photo. Of course, it loaded up to his frame! Does he admit he was wrong? No, he says I have to ONLY take photos in landscape! Um, ok dad.

So, I’ve sent them photos from Doodle’s birthday party, our trip to the Sculpture Garden, Doodle talking with grandma on the phone for his birthday, Buddy playing baseball and our nature hike.

The photos are clear and look just like a print photo. At night if I want to turn down the brightness, I just press the buttons on the back and it dims to my liking.

I have the ability to lock certain photos in the frame so that way when we get to maximum capacity they don’t get bumped off the frame. I can have up to 40 photos on the frame. When I go to upload more, the first ones that are on the frame will be bumped off.

I’m still waiting for my dad to send me the photos from their Anniversary trip! He does upload photos from his cell phone directly to his frame, and can’t stop talking about this feature!

How does CEIVA stand out from other digital photo frames? Let them tell you!

“As the inventor of the connected digital photo frame CEIVA Logic, Inc. is fortunate to be recognized as an industry leader and innovator in the premium digital photo frame category. CEIVA frames, which work in conjunction with all that is bundled in our patented PicturePlan® Photo Delivery Service, create unique photo sharing micro-communities that connect family and friends together. For nearly a decade now this exclusive ability, to connect and share, has set us apart from all other frames on the market.”

    Gal Pal Review

gal_pal_2 There are certain items a girl needs and Gal Pal is the place to find it! They have a very cute site and carry such practical products!

gal-pal_g3 First of all, they have The Original Gal Pal®. This set is awesome! (yes, I just sang that last word) The Original Gal Pal is the fastest simplest way to remove annoying white deodorant streaks from clothing. The Original Gal Pals are also reusable, giving you approximately 10 - 15 uses per side (depending on the mark). Keep one in your purse, desk drawer, and car ...so you can be streak-free in seconds! Made in the U.S.A

hanger-huggers_g1 Next are the Gal Pal Hanger Huggers®. Seriously, do you own any metal or padded hangers? If so, you know what a pain they can be to hang clothing on. Mine slip off all the time (rolled eyes) and it’s so frustrating. insert super hero music I received pink Hanger Huggers to slip onto my wire hangers and they work like a charm!

lint-remover-mitts-gal-pal_available And lastly there was the Original Lint Remover Mitts®. I have 3 cats and 1 dog. Need I say more? I think they’re working against me! Getting ready for church the other day, kid you NOT, I pull the shirt I wanted to wear off my bed post. Cat hair all over! I hadn’t used the Lint Remover Mitts yet and I figured then was as good a time as any! They were so great to use and got the job done! Cat hair…gone!

They don’t stop there. Here are a few of their other “must have” items:

Gal Pal Original Retro Ice Bags®: These are so cool. I think I’d like to get the Sports one since my boys would utilize it the most but check out a few of their prints:

everything-tape_availableGal Pal Everything Tape®: “Not only does the Gal Pal Everything Tape™ fix and secures everything from apparel to lingerie, pant hems to shoe straps, wigs to scarves, but even your home/office organizing to decorating projects. Our 2½” x 3/8” pre-cut disposable adhesive strips (with removable backing) are just the right size for your fix-it issues.”

fashion-emergency-pack_available Fashion Emergency Pack: “It's Gal Pal to the rescue!  Never have a fashion emergency ruin your day or night with this special Gal Pal combination product pack.”

    Sand Gone Review & Giveaway

sand goneWhen the sun is shining and there’s nothing to do around the house, what’s the first activity that pops into your mind? The beach?

I love taking the boys to the beach. Although my fear of my kids drowning the moment I look away to flick a bug off myself kind of takes away the joy. LOL
IMG_2761 w We finally had the opportunity to head to the beach on Wednesday after I got home from work and before Doodle’s first baseball “game” (he’s only going into 2nd grade).

One of the frustrating things about the beach is bringing so much of it home with us. One of the kids I was with would come out of the water and actually run to the sand volleyball court and roll around in it!

We weren’t able to stay at the beach for long because of the baseball game. I called the boys over and had them dry off.

IMG_2762 I used the microfiber applicator to apply the Sand Gone. Buddy smelled like coconuts and the sand came right off him. Next came Doodle.

He hadn’t dried off all the way, which I didn’t realize until I started applying the Sand Gone. I rubbed it on his legs and it kind of smeared all over the place. Well, we found out fast enough not to put it on while dripping wet.

My friends and Buddy could smell the awesome coconut fragrance from the Sand Gone. Oh how coconut says “the beach” and “summer”! It’s not strong or overpowering, just right!

IMG_2763We headed to the baseball game and Doodles legs were white from the knees down! LOL We know better for the next time we head to the sand! Buddy’s dry legs were just fine.

Some great news for Sand Gone, they're going to Dallas, Texas on Thursday. The company was picked in the top 3 finalist for The Next Big Thing at The Dallas Market Center. The winner will be picked this Saturday wish them luck it would be the break the company needs.

How would you like to come home without 1/2 the beach and smelling like the tropics? You can purchase Sand Gone ($12 + s/h).

You can also win it here!

Required: Tell me what beach you would use Sand Gone at.

Giveaway open to US Residents 18 yrs or older. Please leave your email address or have it available on your profile. No email/contact = No entry. Giveaway ends 7/7, 10pm CDT. Winner has 48 hrs to respond to winning email.

So, head on over to One Savvy Mom! And enter for your chance at a $500 Visa gift card!

    One Savvy Mom
Yes, by posting this I am receiving extra entries into this giveaway. Thanks for checking it out!

    Giveaways...From Other Sites?

On my Woven by Words site, the way I keep track of giveaways I've entered is by listing them on my sidebar. I list the ones I want to remember to Tweet daily. Sadly, even with a reminder there I tend to forget. And I wonder WHY I'm not winning giveaways!

So, often one of the options in the entries is to post at our sites about the giveaways. Yes, I'd earn entries, but then I'd have more "competition" if everyone else enters. LOL Honestly, there are a lot of times I enter once and then totally forget about the giveaway.
What do you think? Would you want to know about other giveaways? What if you were to learn about items such as the Sony Cyber-Shot from Granny Loves Gift Baskets? She's giving away 2 of them!

Would it be worth it to you even if you knew I would be getting extra entries for posting about it? Of course, I'd disclose that I was earning extra entries by posting, like now. By letting you know abut the Sony Cyber-Shot, I earn 10 extra entries.

    Granny Loves Gift Baskets

I have no clue right now how many entries there are so my 10 extra entries might be a drop in the bucket!

If you'd rather not be informed of other giveaways, let me know. I want you guys to be happy with what's posted here!!

    Hoarders DVD Review & GIVEAWAY

    HoardersAbout the DVD

Take a fascinating look inside the lives of people whose inability to part with their belongings is so out of control that they are on the verge of a personal crisis.

Whether they're facing eviction, the loss of their children, jail time, or divorce, these hoarders are desperately in need of help. In each 60-minute episode of Hoarders, A&E follows two people struggling to overcome their compulsive behavior while experts work to put them on the road to recovery. For some, throwing away even the tiniest possession a sponge, a button, an empty box is so painful that they won t be able to complete the cleaning process...no matter the consequences. For others, professional help and an organizer's guidance give them the strength to recover. At the end of each episode find out who has been able to keep their hoarding behavior at bay and who, despite help, is still lost inside this painful disease.

    BONUS FEATURES: Additional Footage
    DISC 1 (4 episodes, approx 188 min): Jennifer & Ron/Jill; Linda/Steven; Tara/Betty; Jake/Shirley;
    DISC 2 (3 episodes, approx 141 min + bonus): Kerrylea/Lauren; Patty/Bill; Paul/Missy & Alex; Bonus

    My Review

Ok, so I’m guessing we all know someone who has a hard time parting with just about anything. I’m wondering if it’s on the scale of the people featured in Hoarders by A&E.

I was astonished to see the conditions of some of the homes that these hoarders live in. I’m not a neat-nick by ANY stretch of the imagination, but my messiness doesn’t even scratch the surface of what these individuals and families go through.

I found the psychology of the hoarders very interesting. Their emotional attachments to trash was striking to me! Not having the ability to throw away hundreds of empty water bottles, decaying food, or pet droppings piled up over the years has left these homes often times unlivable.

You will be fascinated by the people they feature on Hoarders, if you’ve never seen it before. The organizers and psychiatrists who come in really have a desire to help these people. It seemed to me that they weren’t able to accomplish much because of how deep these families were in their hoarding. It’s a good thing they offer help after the show as well.

It is hard to watch some of the hoarders struggle with their decisions. My heart just broke for some of them because they couldn’t let go of their hoarding even if it was good for them.

Would you like a look into Hoarders? You can purchase the DVD at Amazon.com. The copy you will be winning is my REVIEW copy which was watched only once!

REQUIRED: Tell me if you’ve ever hoarded something. Maybe you’d like to say you “collect” items, what would that item be?

Giveaway open to US Residents 18 yrs and older. Please leave you email address or have it available in your profile. This is only required in your first entry. No email/contact = No entry. Giveaway ends 6/29, 10pm CDT. Winner has 48 hours to respond to email.

    Neutrogena UltraSheer® Liquid Sunblock

I received 2 bottles of Neutrogena UltraSheer® Liquid in the mail last week. I am always concerned about putting anything on my face other than water. Unfortunately, I know too many people who have dealt with skin cancers on their face so I know the importance of protection.

What concerns did I have? Breaking out. I have been relatively acne free for about 15 yrs and that makes me leery of facial products. But I like having the protection of a sunblock. This is where Neutrogena UltraSheer® Liquid comes to the rescue.

Neutrogena UltraSheer® Liquid has an SPF of 70. Hello protection! Here's what it says about the helioplex" "Superior broad-spectrum protection agains skin-agina UVA and burning UVB rays, shielding skin 6 layers deep from premature skin aging."

On the front of the packaging it says that it's a "weightless liquid formula". I didn't quite get that from the product. I could tell it was still on my face, and maybe that's because I never having anything on it. I don't really have a way to compare it.

I did have a couple of break outs, but I think that's for "other" reasons. I will be using the product this week again so I'll be able to compare my skins reaction to my break out a week ago. Will it be my hormones or will Neutrogena's claims that it's "Non-comedogenic (won't clob pores)" hold true?

After my next update, I have a bottle that I'll be giving away. So check back in to see how my skin reacted!

Would you like to review UltraSheer®, too? Then go to http://www.giantwavepool.com/ultrasheer!

    CSNStores Upcoming Review!

CSN_Stores_Logo I have worked with CSNStores in the past and they have got the most amazing line up of stores, over 200 in fact!

If you follow my other site Woven by Words, you know I’m a huge reader (and book reviewer). The one thing missing from my reading location are lights. So the CSNStore to head to is the CSN Lighting store.

Maybe it’s because I’m lazy, maybe I just dig lights on the nightstand, but I have been wanting to get lamps for my bedroom for a couple of years.

Pueblo Tiffany Desk LampThe light above would be great for reading since it extends. I read in bed so I don’t always sit in the same position. I’m looking at getting for my nightstand. What do you think? It’s a Tiffany!

I also thought since my son loves the Minnesota Twins, maybe getting him a Twins lamp might be cool for his room for his birthday.

    List Caddy Review & Giveaway

Grocery shopping, every woman’s grand weekly adventure. I’m a night shopper. I typically go after work on a Saturday night around 10pm. I usually feel like I have the store to myself.

Several weeks ago I received a box containing products to help every grocery shopper.

IMG_2614First I received the List Caddy™ List and Coupon Holder.

The patented List Caddy shopping list and coupon holder is designed to make life easier for the shopper. It holds your list and coupons clipped to the shopping cart handle for easy viewing and use while you are in the store. It can also organize your shopping list and coupons at home, in the kitchen. It can stand on it's own on a counter or table and it has magnets on the back for attaching to the refrigerator.

I totally used this! It held my grocery list and my coupons! I clipped it on to the handle of the grocery cart and there it stayed throughout my shopping as you can see above!

IMG_2615 Secondly I have the Koala Pouch™ Shopping Organizer.

The Koala Pouch shopping organizer is a nylon pouch which wraps over the shopping cart handle and fastens with velcro. It has a rear zipper pocket which holds 2 compact reusable shopping bags (included). The front zipper pocket comes with tabbed dividers for organizing coupons, and the front clear pocket can hold a mobile phone, Blackberry, or iPhone. Finally, there's a handy pen sleeve on the front and a plastic utility clip attached to the side.

This baby is so practical! I always have my phone with me and I lose it over and over in my purse even though my purse us pretty small. By the time I find it, I’ve lost the call. The Koala Pouch™ has a spot right in the front to hold my phone, which you can see sitting right in front and easily accessible. It fit easily over the cart handle and velcroed closed. I stuck all of my coupons that I thought I’d need in the big slot. At the end of the short shopping trip, I pulled out my 2 reusable bags and packed my groceries in! When I was done, the grocery bags went back into the back zipper pocket. I even put my Coupon Holder in the back pocket to keep it all together.

Koalabiner And lastly there was the very cute Koalabiner™ Purse Hanger

The Koalabiner purse hanger is a carabiner style clip designed to hang your purse from the handle of a shopping cart or baby stroller so you do not have to carry it on your shoulder or leave it in the cart basket while you are shopping. You can also use the Koalabiner to hang a diaper bag from your stroller handle.

I haven’t used the Koalabiner yet. Until I saw the photo on the home page of Momcepts I wasn’t sure what I would use it for. From now on, I’m going to attach my reusable bags to them so I remember to use them! I usually just bunch them up and drop them into the cart. At least this way they’re available to me once I get to the register!

So, who wants to shop organized with the 3 items above from Momcepts? Here’s how to win them…

    PrintScans.com Review

print If you’re as old as me you have a lifetime of printed photos. I swore I would never own a digital camera. How could I ever switch to something so ridiculous?

A few years ago I was surprised with a loaded digital camera yet continued to use my film camera. I had no interest in changing. So, my printed photos continued to multiply.

I was also a major scrapper. At some point I figured that it’d be easier and cheaper to order 3-4 copies of each photo than to go back later and order certain ones. Can you imagine how many prints I had? WOW

The summer I received my digital camera, I headed to Chicago to visit the in-laws. Took the digital camera with me. Lo and behold, it took spectacular photos! Out with the old, in with the new!

Baby17 Now my kids are older and graduating. One of the things that took FOR-EVER last year at my oldest daughter’s graduation was scanning photo after photo to make a DVD for the party.

My 2nd daughter graduates next year and PrintScans.com has not only preserved these photos onto a DVD they have made my life easier!Baby10

Here’s what Rick, creator of PrintScans.com shares:

One of the reasons PrintScans exists is the recognition that our photos are very precious.  By having them scanned and digitized, you are preserving your photos for generations to come.  Your children, your children’s children and every future generation will have a better chance of learning about your family’s life today.  Placing your DVD in a secure place, like a safe deposit box, helps ensure that your photos are safe from catastrophes.

And, in today’s digital world, having your photos scanned and digitized gives you the ability to do so much more with them.  Whether it is emailing them, putting them on your Facebook page, creating digital collages, including them on a digital frame, restoring them in PhotoShop or Tweeting them, you have so many more ways of sharing your photos with more people.

Can you imagine how long it would take to scan every single print photo I have from just the last 19 yrs? My photo frenzy started when my oldest daughter was born and only ended a few years ago.

If you are in the same boat as me, and you have print photos that you’d like to have preserved, I’d love to have you head to PrintScans.com and check out their scanning options.

I’d like to thank Rick from PrintScans.com. He was super helpful and very patient with me. I forgot to send my paperwork in my package. Then I sent an email that was supposed to contain an image of the paperwork. Yep, forgot to send it! So, when he was finished copying the photos, he politely asked for the information again! Wonder if he was getting concerned! LOL
