Well, Gorton’s still has their awesome fish sticks, but they have added a variety of delicious seafood options!
Let me first start by admitting I’m not really a seafood fan unless it’s shrimp or crab legs. Well, let me rephrase that, I’m not much of a fish fan. But, my boys are like the rest of the men in the family and are fishermen! I figured I’d get it for them…the picky eaters.
Ha! I finally have something new to add to their meager menu of items they will eat. First they tried the Grilled Fillets with Garlic Butter. Yes, I tried it too. We all gave it a thumbs up! Surprise surprise.
Next came the Grilled Tilapia Signature Grilled. Hate to say it, but these were not enjoyed by any of us. Waaay too fishy for this family. Sorry Gorton’s. It smelled delicious when we took it out of the wrapper.
While the boys were gone, I tried the Crispy Beer Batter Shrimp. Don’t want the boys thinkin’ I’m having alcohol with my food. And I’m selfish and didn’t want to share. Huge pieces of shrimp that were scrumptious!
Today I got more because I really liked this line sooo much! Tonight I got the Crunchy Golden Popcorn Shrimp, Garlic and Herb Fillets, and accidently grabbed the Grilled Tilapia Lemon Peppercorn. Oh well, we’ll try the Tilapia anyhow.
Grilled Tilapia update!! Tonight 8/13 the boys and I tried the Lemon Peppercorn. My youngest little dude and I ate it all up. My oldest son spit his out. Weirdo. One of the neighbor kids is over and I offered to let him try it. He gobbled it up along with my oldest son's extras!
Now, my two cents when it comes to preparing them: Oven! The microwave is faster yes, but it shrinks considerably and is more rubbery. I intentionally compared the cooking style. I much preferred the oven and I typically go for the microwave whenever possible.
Here are some tips from Gorton’s to helping you eat better:

- Choose perfectly seasoned seafood every time
- Break out of your menu routine
- Delight family & friends with seafood
- Enjoy restaurant favorites at home
Adding fish to any diet is a great idea because of the Omega-3 fatty acids, but it is particularly good for children and their growth & development. If your child has ADD/ADHD it can lessen symptoms. Pregnant women are recommended to have 2-3 servings of fish a week (up to 12 oz) by the FDA. And with the continued studies occurring, it looks like there could be a link between omega-3 fatty acids and heard disease risk being reduced!
